Victory for students as Yogi Govt rolls back decision on exam following massive outrage

In a significant move, the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) has decided to conduct the preliminary examination for the Provincial Civil Services (PCS) in a single day, addressing concerns raised by protesting students in Prayagraj. The decision comes after a series of protests by candidates, who demanded changes in the exam format.

The protests, led by students preparing for the PCS exams, were initially centered in Prayagraj, where demonstrators expressed dissatisfaction with the previous examination schedule. In response to the growing unrest, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath instructed the UPPSC to engage with the students and take necessary action to address their grievances. The UPPSC’s latest decision is a result of this dialogue, with the objective of easing the examination process for candidates.

The UPPSC’s decision to consolidate the exam into a single day aims to alleviate the pressure on students, making it more manageable. This change is expected to streamline the process and make it more convenient for aspirants across the state. Additionally, the Commission has also formed a committee to review the RO / ARO (Pra.) Examination 2023. This committee is tasked with considering all aspects of the examination and is expected to submit a detailed report shortly.

The protests in Prayagraj had been growing for several days, with a large number of students voicing their concerns over the examination format. They had called for reforms and changes to the examination scheduling to reduce the burden of multiple-day testing. The UPPSC's decision is seen as a positive step toward resolving the issues raised by the students and maintaining the integrity of the examination process.

In the wake of this decision, students are hopeful that their concerns have been heard, and the upcoming PCS Preliminary Exam 2024 will proceed smoothly under the new format. The Commission’s swift action also indicates a strong commitment to addressing the needs and concerns of the students preparing for competitive exams in the state.
